The Jefferson Community School offers an academic program that is designed so that each student has both the opportunity and the support to reach for his or her academic potential, tailored to his or her own academic level and needs.
The program offers a culture of learning where engaged thinking, intellectual integrity, curiosity, reflection, and hard work are expected and respected. Our dedicated team of faculty all work in concert for the best interests of each student. While all schools state this as an idealistic goal, our very small class sizes and excellent student teacher ratio make a very personal approach possible.
Through a blend of more traditional and highly experiential instruction, our teachers encourage a commitment to personal excellence and expect our students to take increasing personal responsibility for their learning as they move from middle school into high school.
A high value is placed on classroom engagement. This is evident in lively, focused classroom discussions, as well as learning through real life experiences. Our grading system evaluates what we value as a school: achievement, participation and responsibility (APR).
