“The emphasis on community is crucial, and shouldn’t be underestimated.” JCS Alumni
Jefferson Community School is committed to creating and maintaining a supportive and respectful learning community. During their years at JCS, our students develop a sense of the value of community not typically found in larger more institutional schools.
JCS places a great deal of emphasis on holding each individual accountable to be a respectful and supportive member of the school community. Students are taught and expected to respect each other, themselves, and the community itself. Students are expected to contribute positively to both the school and the learning community.
At the same time, the school environment is relaxed, supportive, and encouraging.
Our daily tradition of “Circle” offers time and opportunity for reflection and connection, for problem solving, and giving each student a voice in the learning community.
